Only a few days to tell the Governor on Day 13

If you haven't done it already, you have only a few days left to email your confidential (but not anonymous) comments to Governor Brewer about the candidates vying to replace Judge Hinson when he resigns in 13 days. The deadline for comments is Sunday, but I encourage you to get your comments in sooner rather than later in case there's a problem with mail servers, a world wide computer virus, etc.

As I mentioned before, there are five candidates who have asked to be considered. They are Cele Hancock, Raymond A. Hanna, Kenton D. Jones, James M. McGee and Anna C. Young.

If you have any information about any of these candidates, good or bad—but bad will probably be of more value to the Governor since the candidates will no doubt have up to ten of their fans write in—you need to speak up now so we don't have a Hinson Rerun.

The Governor is ASKING you for your input. Or maybe you know someone who knows one of these candidates? Please send your friends an email link to this post.

The sad reality is that few citizens respond to these requests, but the good news is, because there are so few citizen comments—comments from outside the Bar-way, yours may tip the scales in the Governor's decision. (Do you like how I worked some Judicial imagery in there?) I hope I'm not being too idealistic... often, these appointments are political. I'm hoping the Governor is above that. That's the sense I got from her staffer close to the process.

Naturally, my focus and belief is that anyone who knew of Judge Hinson's numerous violations of Constitutional law and remained his friend and/or condoned his actions and/or "supported him" is summarily disqualified to be a judge. You need not share my focus in your comments. But if you share my beliefs, this is your time to help put Integrity in the Judiciary. Judges should be above reproach, so if you know anything troubling about a candidate, you have a duty to inform the Governor.

Please see my previous post. As mentioned there, you have to email your comments to jkanefield@az.gov by Sunday, September 20.

I said it before and I'll say it again: Remember, you get—and got—the government you deserve. If you do it again, it's "shame on you." Don't put a Judge Hinson confidant on the Bench.
